Join the fun!

Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark kids club, The Future Furnace Keepers.

For ages 4-12, The Future Furnace Keepers membership offers kids the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities at Sloss all year round. The new kids club not only allows children the opportunity to participate in activities at Sloss it gives Birmingham youth an opportunity to learn more about the history of Sloss and the importance of its industrial impact on Birmingham.

A one year membership into The Future Furnace Keepers at Sloss is $50.00. All members will receive a souvenir bag, notification of upcoming events and free admission to a variety of activities throughout the year.

Author Bio: Karen Utz is the curator of Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark and an adjunct history instructor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is a contributor to Work, Family, Faith: Women of the Twentieth Century South and Man Food: Recipes from the Iron Trade. Utz has served on various committees for the Southeastern Museums Conference, the Society for the History of Technology, the Alabama Academy of Sciences, and the American Association of Museums.
